A glow-in-the-dark beach – it may sound impossible, but this surreal phenomenon has been recorded on eight beaches around the world. Last week, it was spotted on a beach in Hainan. The eerie blue light is caused by micro-organisms that are agitated by visitors stepping onto the sand, or by waves crashing onto the shore. Other factors that cause the glow include the weather and time of day, making it difficult to predict when the phenomenon will occur.
