Hamas marks 28th founding anniversay with big rally in Gaza

The Islamic Hamas movement, which rules the Gaza Strip, marked its 28th anniversary of foundation on Monday.

Waving the symbolic green flags, chanting anti-Israel slogans, thousands of Hamas supporters poured into Gaza streets for celebrations.

Many military and political leaders of the movement also showed up in the rally.

Founded in the end of 1978, Hamas movement calls for the destruction of Israel.

It has been ruling the Gaza Strip since the movement violently took over the enclave from the control of Fatah in June 2007.
