On a chilly winter morning in 2012, Zhuo Yifeng and his team were doing charity work in the Nanhu district of Wuhan, when he caught sight of an elderly woman making her way with difficulty to a local market. Zhuo learned that the old lady was trying to buy bread, as she lived by herself and nobody was able to fetch it for her. This event inspired Zhuo to provide meals for seniors and establish a charity aimed at helping the elderly. Today, five Happy Canteens have been set up throughout Wuhan. They cater for more than 3,000 seniors a day, providing those aged over 65 with three meals for the small cost of 10 yuan.
