Health risk in Johannesburg amid sanitation workers’ strike

Authorities in the South African city of Johannesburg have warned against the impact of an ongoing strike staged by workers of the waste management entity, known as Pikitup, after a rodent tested positive for plague.
About 4,000 Pikitup workers are continuing with their strike over wage hikes, which has entered its fourth week in the city while rubbish has been piled high and thrown randomly on the streets.
