Relentless rain continued to wreak havoc in several southern Chinese provinces, disrupting traffic and forcing thousands of people to evacuate. Several rivers in Chongqing are dangerously high, inundating farmlands and houses. Two rail routes there were impassable, affecting more than 50 passenger trains. Rain-triggered floods disrupted traffic and damaged roads in Hunan Province, forcing the evacuation of 4,700 residents.
