Heavy rain, floods kill eight on the east coast of the US

Torrential rainfall in the South and North Carolina have triggered mass floods and caused the deaths of at least eight people. South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley said parts of the state experienced a once-in-a-thousand-year rainfall. President Barack Obama declared a state of emergency in the state on Saturday, making federal funds available.
