Henk Rogers, world famous video game designer, talks about environmental sustainability

CCTV News sits down with Henk Rogers, a video game designer and entrepreneur who owns the company that produced the beloved video game Tetris. Rogers spent his early career in Japan as a video game developer and publisher, gaining distinction for producing the country’s first major role-playing game, The Black Onyx. He went on to secure the rights for the popular video game Tetris, which 30 years later remains a bestseller and global icon of gaming culture. These days, he’s exploring innovative approaches to environmental sustainability. Countries around the world pledged at the Paris Climate Conference to limit global warming “well below” 2 degrees, and below 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels if feasible, a mission seemingly near impossible to many people. That basically requires the world to move rapidly toward 100% clean energy, producing zero net greenhouse gas emissions between 2050 and 2080. How do we make this work? Henk Rogers shares some thoughts on what he’s learned.
