High-speed train connects China’s cold northeast areas

A new high-speed train link connecting Harbin in Heilongjiang Province to Qiqihaer, the second largest provincial city, began operations on Monday. The trains and railway lines have been specially designed in order to withstand the high altitude and extreme cold that the region experiences during winter, with temperatures often falling to a low of minus 40 degrees Celsius.
