High unemployment adds to education woes for Pakistan’s children

Unemployment in Pakistan is at its highest for 13 years according to the latest official figures. That’s bad news for education in a country with a literacy rate of less than 50 percent. And social and cultural obstacles mean that literacy is even lower in the countryside. Many children drop out of school, and many have to work to help support their family.
