Highlights of President Xi’s U.S. visit – Sept. 28

Visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a speech Sunday at the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

He made a four-point proposal on further advancing women’s rights worldwide during his speech.

The president said countries should protect women’s rights and interests, and must ensure sufficient basic medical services for women, schools affordable and safe for every girl, and develop vocational and life-long education for women to help them better adapt to changes in society and the job market.
