HK woman masters Beijing dialect after seven years on Chinese Mainland

Jennifer Li of Hong Kong went to Beijing Language and Culture University to study German in September 2012. After graduation, she chose to work and study in the Chinese mainland. She said that there might not be too many job options for her chosen language of study in Hong Kong. Jennifer, who can speak fluent Mandarin now, provoked laughter because of her accent when she first came to Beijing. It took her several weeks to practice the pronunciation of the single term “Liu Niao.”
