Hong Kong clash: Authorities try to shut down street food vendors

Rioters clashed with police overnight in Hong Kong’s Kowloon district. The violence began after local authorities tried to prevent street food vendors from operating on Monday night. Hong Kong Cable TV showed footage of a police officer firing warning shots into the air from his handgun in an attempt to quell the rioters. Police used pepper spray to disperse the crowds, while rioters threw bricks and lit fires on the streets. We’re closely following the story, and will bring you more when we have it.
