For a newlywed couple in the city of Jilin in northeast China’s Jilin Province, their tokens of love were not diamond rings, but two huge and horrifying pythons. At the wedding, the groom gave his wife a 30-kg male python while the bride returned the gesture with a 15-kg female. They are both reportedly animal protection volunteers and the pythons were found and rescued by them during their trip after they found them lying in the road after been released in the wild. The couple raised them together ever since and the reptiles mean a great deal to them. However, due to laws stating that residents cannot raise wild animals at home, local authorities, along with the animal protection association, confiscated the animals and sent them to the wild animal center in the city.
