In the country of Namibia there is a ministry dedicated to eradicating poverty.
And now China has become the first benefactor to it.
China handed over 54, 000 U.S dollars on Thursday for the establishment of food banks in the country.
Namibian President Hage Geingob has declared war on poverty and called for help in this regard.
Geingob has said that government’s plan is to establish food banks as a stopgap measure to help end hunger.
Part of China’s donation will be used to drill boreholes to help alleviate a shortage of water.
Chinese Ambassador to Namibia said China just like Namibia faces a similar situation when it comes to poverty.
And so it felt it necessary to offer help.
