How Chinese authorities are managing the Spring Festival travel rush

More than eight million people traveled on trains during the weekend ahead of the peak of the annual Spring Festival travel rush next week. It is expected that nationwide journeys will top 2.9 billion during the 40 days from late January to March, as people across China return home for the annual Lunar New Year celebrations. The railways have added hundreds of extra passenger trains to meet the growing demand.
