How to create energy from waste

A waste-to-energy plant in southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality has burned 2,400 tons of trash to produce over 630,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per day since it was completed in June 2012.
A purifying system ensures the dioxins and other toxic pollutants are destroyed. The fly ash that results from incineration can be processed and used to make glass.
It is estimated that all trash in the city will be used to produce electricity by 2017 with the help of such plants.
