Huawei announced it will invest US$3.1 billion in Italy over three years as it looked to expand its business across Europe amid an escalating US-China trade war. The tech giant planned to spend US$1.9 billion on the acquisition of supplies and US$1.2 billion towards operations and marketing, which included US$52 million for research and development. The move was expected to generate 1,000 direct jobs as well as 2,000 subcontract positions.
