Hurricane Matthew: 600,000 homes in Florida without power

Rick Scott, governor of Florida, says around 600,000 homes in Florida are without power due to Hurricane Matthew. Scott has warned of significant flooding in the Jacksonville area, and urged around 1.5 million residents in coastal areas to evacuate, after US authorities forecast waves up to 2.5 meters high. Matthew has been downgraded to a Category 3 storm, but gusts of up to 195 kilometers per hour have still been reported. Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina are under a state of emergency, and mass evacuations are underway.
