India Has Not Forgotten 1984 Riots : Narendra Modi

As Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi take the intolerance debate to the President, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (November 2) responded to his critics in Bihar, saying the Congress party has no right to lecture the country on intolerance. Invoking the 1984 Sikh riots, PM Modi said “Madam Sonia, you have ruled for 35 years. Today is 2nd of November. Recollect 2nd November of the year 1984. Right from the second day of Indira Gandhi’s death, Sikhs were openly massacred. Sikhs were being killed. Serious allegations were levelled against the Congress party. Serious charges were levelled against Congress leaders. And today, on the same 2nd of November, Congress is lecturing about tolerance. Such things from Congress are not in good taste. Even today, the families of those Sikhs continue to grieve. Even today, they are struggling. How can one forget that? And they are instead doing drama’.”
