India Requests Russia For Netaji Files

India on Tuesday (October 20) formally requested Russia for its cooperation in connection with the declassification of files pertaining to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. “External Affair Minister Sushma Swaraj requested her Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov to cooperate in connection with the declassification of files related to Netaji. He has assured to look into the matter,” said MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup. Earlier, central government had announced to release the first set of files pertaining to Netaji on January 23, 2016. The decision was taken by the government after prime minister Narendra Modi met the family members of Netaji. “Will also request foreign Governments to declassify files on Netaji available with them. Shall begin this with Russia,” Modi had said.
