Indian authorities have lifted a curfew in most parts of Indian-controlled Kashmir after 52 days of lockdown. Traffic has returned to the roads, and people are finally stepping out of their homes. However, police and security personnel are keeping a sharp eye on intra-city movements. Restrictions remain in force in the region, prohibiting unlawful assembly of ten or more people. The lockdown came after unrest over the killing of a 22-year-old militant in July, in which more than 70 people died, and 7,000 others were injured.
