Indian officials: More than 300 million suffering from drought

The Indian government said about 330 million people are suffering from drought. The figures were announced by one of the government’s most senior lawyer, P.S. Narasimha. He said that about a quarter of the country’s population have been hit by drought after two consecutive years of weak monsoons. He added that the government had released funds for the affected regions.
