Insurgents killed in cleanup operations in Afghanistan

Several insurgents have been killed and injured during cleanup operations since early Sunday, the country’s Defense Ministry said on Monday.

“Several terrorists were killed and injured as a result of joint cleanup operations conducted by army, police and intelligence agency personnel across the country over the past 24 hours,” the ministry said in a statement, without disclosing the exact number of casualties.

The security forces also found and seized weapons, in addition to defusing dozens of roadside bombs and landmines, the statement said, adding that the raids were lunched in Nangarhar, Ghazni, Kandahar, Kunduz and Faryab provinces.
