An international cycling race in NW China was marred by accidents on its opening day.

The Tour of Qinghai Lake race kicked off in Xining, capital of Qinghai Province on Sunday.

In the afternoon, a teenager unexpected cut into a race track near the finish line of one cycling event, triggering a chain reaction of crashes.

Six were injured in the accident.

In another race, one motorcycle collided with a bicycle, causing several riders to fall to the ground.

The cycling race draws more than 160 athletes from around the world. It’s expected to last two weeks.
