Iran has dispatched two warships to the Gulf of Aden with the aim of protecting trade vessels from piracy. The move comes after US forces launched cruise missile strikes on areas controlled by Iran-backed Houthi forces. Thursday’s strikes hit radar sites controlled by the insurgents. According to Washington, the strikes were carried out in response to failed missile attacks on one of its navy ships. The rebel group has denied the allegations, saying the claims are baseless.
