The Iranian Interior Minister has announced that counting from last Friday’s Parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections has concluded. The Interior Minister said turnout in the country’s capital Tehran was 50 percent, while it averaged at 62% across the country. The results were broadcast on state television, and showed that reformists — who favor expanded social freedoms and engagement with the West — won 85 seats, while moderate conservatives took 73.
