Iran in talks with Russia on sale of ‘heavy water’

Russia’s RIA news agency reported that Iran is conducting talks with Russia about the sale of heavy water, a byproduct of nuclear reactors that can be used to produce weapons-grade plutonium. The news comes after Tehran reached a deal with Washington last week to sell 32 metric tons of heavy water, which is expected to be delivered within weeks. The liquid is not radioactive and is a component of making nuclear weapons.
