Iraqi authorities have lifted a curfew on the capital Baghdad after thousands of protesters withdrew from the heavily fortified Green Zone. Witnesses say security forces fired tear gas and live bullets at demonstrators, leaving dozens wounded. Protesters were angry with the government’s failure to approve anti-corruption reforms and to provide adequate security.
