Iraq stalls Fallujah assault to protect civilians

Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has said that security forces have delayed their assault on the city of Fallujah due to fears for the safety of civilians. The decision comes two days after elite Iraqi troops entered the city’s southern outskirts. It is estimated that at least 50,000 civilians, including 20,000 children, are trapped in the city.
