Iraqi forces advance in Mosul, reach Tigris River for 1st time

Iraqi forces on Sunday reached Tigris River for the first time, recapturing new areas from IS militants in Mosul.
After a battle leaving some 40 militants killed, the forces captured the eastern bank of Tigris River.
Meanwhile, the force seized southern parts of Baladiyah and Succar, killing 43 extremist militants.
Since last October, Iraqi forces have launched a major offensive to free Mosul from IS.
A recent report said the military operations in Mosul have pushed 136,000 civilians to flee their homes.
