Iraqi gov’t forces vow to retake territory from ISIL

The Iraqi government has said that it aims to retake all the territory controlled by ISIL in Iraq by the end of next year. The statement comes as Iraqi forces claimed to have retaken the city of Ramadi, the capital of Anbar Province. Ramadi is the second major city retaken from ISIL. The Iraqi defense minister said last week that troops have regained control of 83 percent of land once occupied by the group, which claimed in June 2014 to control 40 percent of Iraq.
