Israeli startup develops wearable device for blind

More than 280 million people are estimated to be visually impaired worldwide, according to WHO data. An Israeli start-up company, OrCam, has developed a wearable device to help blind or visually impaired people to read. It uses a tiny camera mounted on a pair of glasses and a very small computer that fits in a pocket. Wearers simply point at an object or text. The device then reads the text and identifies objects such as buses, street lights and signs.
