Italy’s civil protection department has said the death toll from Wednesday’s earthquake reached 281 on Friday night. A further 388 people have been hospitalized, with 40 of them in a critical condition. An estimated 2,500 people were left homeless by the most deadly quake in Italy since 2009. A total of 13 foreigners were killed, including six Romanians and three British holidaymakers. Rescuers have continued to scour the town of Amatrice, but little sign of life was spotted three days after the quake hit. CCTV’s Kate Parkinson reports.
