Japan-Philippines joint military exercise in South China Sea

Japan will dispatch a P-3C patrol aircraft to the South China Sea, to join a military exercise with the Philippines navy from Sunday until June 27. Tomohisa Takei, chief of staff of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, said the drill is aimed at improving Japan’s rescue capabilities and is not targeted towards any specific country.
