Japan postpones sales tax increase

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced he would delay the sales tax increase scheduled for next April by two and a half years. Abe said the economic recovery was not strong enough. It is the second time the Abe administration postponed the sales tax increase to 10 percent from 8 percent, after a rise from 5 percent in April 2014 tipped the economy back into a recession.
