Japan signs documents to surrender in WWII in 1945

On September 2, 1945, years of war and struggle came to an end on the U.S. battleship, USS Missouri. Representatives from Japan and the Allies came face to face on the deck of the naval ship at 9 a.m., where Japanese Foreign Minister Mamoru Shigemitsu put his name on the Instrument of Surrender with other representatives from the Allied powers, officially marking the end of World War II.
