Japan to seek record-high defense budget

70 years after Japan’s defeat in World War II, Japan’s Defense Ministry is mulling a record-high budget for fiscal year 2016.
Citing a senior military official, Kyodo news agency reported over the weekend the defense budget is likely to reach up to 5.2 trillion yen, or about 42 billion U.S. dollars…… 4.4 percent higher than this year.
Japan’s defense spending has risen continuously over the past three years since Prime Minister Shinzo Abe took office in late 2012.
Abe is pushing through constitution-violating, controversial security bills which will expand Japan’s military role overseas.
