Japan, US condemns DPRK’s ballistic missile launch, lodges strong protest

Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said on Wednesday that the launch is a grave threat to Japan’s security. The missile fell into the Sea of Japan some 480 kilometers off the coast of the DPRK. The US also condemned the move, saying it is provocative, and vowing to raise concerns at the United Nations. The US has urged the DPRK to refrain from actions that further raise tensions in the region. It also says it is prepared to defend its allies, including South Korea and Japan.
