Japan wartime sex slavery row: Issue far from settled

Historians and educators in Japan have demanded related parties address the issue of Japanese military’s use of sex slaves during World War II — a thorny issue in ties with its Asian neighbors. 15 associations released a joint statement, which criticized an agreement reached between Japan and South Korea last year to settle the row and refrain from further criticism on the issue of sex slaves, also known as comfort women. The statement says the agreement is incapable of resolving the issue.
