Journalist Burnt Alive | UP scribe death case: Forensic report suggests suicide

In a significant development in the death probe of UP journalist Jagendra Singh, the forensic report submitted to the UP police suggests that the scribe committed suicide. Times Now is in the possession of the Forensic report that points towards self-inflicted burn wounds. “Thermal burns had been caused by autoflame, rather than homicidal attack,” the report says. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police AK Jain on Monday had also hinted towards the suicide theory.”The forensic examination has confirmed that Jagendra suffered more wounds on the left side of his abdomen in the lower chest region,” Jain said, adding that this generally happens when a right-handed individual pours petrol on himself. The forensic report comes in complete contrast to the dying declaration by Jagendra Singh, in which he stated that he was set on fire at the behest of the Uttar Pradesh minister Ram Murti Verma on June 1. The scribe struggled for life for a week at a hospital in Lucknow and died on June 8. The journalist had invited Verma’s ire by posting reports on Facebook about illegal mining activities and land grabbing against the minister.
