Kenya protests: 3 killed as police uses tear gas on protesters

At least three people have died as Kenya’s police shot, beat and tear-gassed demonstrators across the country. The protesters are calling for the electoral commission to be dissolved due to alleged bias and corruption. Police fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse hundreds of demonstrators in the capital Nairobi. Conflicts also erupted in other cities such as Mombasa and Kisumu. Businesses in Nairobi stayed closed for fear of looting. The government called on the opposition not to stage the street protests, but the opposition groups vowed to keep up the protests.
