Kenyatta appreciates AU’s stance on ICC case

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday appreciated the African Union for its stance over the International Criminal Court case against its deputy president.

The ICC has terminated the case for the lack of evidence.

“I want to take this opportunity to completely totally and utterly thank the people of Africa, the Governments of Africa, African Union for their very strong position, very well articulated position in support of Kenya in regards with the cases in the ICC that have seen us succeed and be able to move forward.”

Kenyatta made the remarks in Berlin when he met African ambassadors in Germany on ways of forging greater unity and solidarity in advancing Africa’s common positions at the international arena.

In January , AU member states backed a Kenyan proposal to push for withdrawal of the case from the ICC, saying the case unfairly targets the continent.
