Taiwan’s ruling Kuomintang party is holding a special temporary party election today to select a new candidate to run for Taiwan leader. Senior party members are urging the current candidate Hung Hsiu-chu to quit the race because of her sagging poll numbers. Hung made a speech at the temporary congress in which she left the decision of who should run up to the party’s representatives.
