Landmark buildings’ switch off to mark Earth Hour

Lights on many landmark buildings were turned off on Saturday night to mark the Earth Hour. The Sydney Opera House, the Tokyo Tower and the Bird’s Nest in Beijing all stood in darkness. This is an annual global event to encourage individuals, communities, households, and businesses to turn off non-essential lights for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.
