Workers are busy installing the final reflector panel of the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope “FAST” in Pingtang ciunty, southwest China’s Guizhou Province. Construction on the FAST project began in March 2011 with an investment of 700 million yuan, and is scheduled for completion by September 2016. Upon completion, FAST will be the world’s largest telescope of its kind, dwarfing Puerto Rico’s Arecibo Observatory, which is 300 meters in diameter.
