The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday (October 30) accused Delhi LG Najeeb Jung of releasing false reports in the media a day after the latter exclusively told Times Now that the Delhi government had asked the LG to dismiss 20 cases pending against the AAP government. The conference comes a day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused Delhi LG of ‘presurising'” Home Minister Satyendar Jain to grant parole to former Haryana CM O P Chautala, who is currently serving a decade-long jail term after he was convicted in the teachers’ recruitment scam case. On Thursday, TIMES NOW accessed a fresh series of communication between the two, following which the Delhi government today questioned why the LG was taking personal interest in Chautala’s case and why pressure was being put on the government to transfer Chautala to Punjab from Tihar Jail. On Thursday, CM Arvind Kejriwal even tweeted: “BJP and Cong both defending LG and Chautala. Interesting naa…” The Delhi government has alleged that the LG has been putting pressure on home minister Satyendar Jain to grant parole to Chautala, a charge that has been rejected by the LG. In a statement to TIMES NOW, the LG said he had formally rejected a parole plea of Chautala on October 5 after which no fresh application was received. However, AAP has claimed that a new application was made on October 16 which formed the basis for the meeting between the LG and Jain on October 21 where the latter was pulled up for having rejected it. On 16 October, the second parole application of Chautala came to the Home Minister. “The LG needs to answer why his official press release is misleading the nation. And in 24 hours, how did his press release do a U-turn?. Secondly, Om Prakash Chautala also made an appeal to be transfered to the Bhatinda Jail from Tihar Jail. Delhi LG, taking a very personal interest in the matter, has directly asked the state home department officials to give him Chautala’s file. Why has he taken this personal interest?,” AAP leader Raghav Chadha said in a press conference today.
