Lhasa celebrates traditional Shoton Festival

More than 200,000 Buddhists and other believers went to Lhasa for the start of the traditional Shoton Festival. The Shoton Festival, also known as the Yogurt Banquet Festival, is a week-long gala held since the 11th century. During the festival, Tibetans head to Norbulingka Park to enjoy the Tibetan Opera, where the traditional art form is flourishing on the plateau.
