Live one second more this year! Leap second to be added this New Year’s Eve

2016 will be one second longer than a normal year, to ensure Coordinated Universal Time, the official measure of time using atomic clocks, stays in sync with changes in the Earth’s rotation. The International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service said the extra second will be tagged on at the end of the year.
