The South China Sea is a disputed body of water over which various countries are competing for rich resources such as oil, gas and fisheries, with a number of other economic and political factors behind ongoing tensions. China has been the target of criticism for construction work it has carried out in parts of the region over which it has sovereignty – but what exactly has China been building, and is it alone in reclaiming parts of the South China Sea?
