Lord Bates sees a real China

Chinese President Xi Jinping addressed both houses of the British Parliament during his five-day state visit to Britain.

Xi specifically referred to the charity work carried out in China by Lord Bates, a member of the House of Lords, who helps grow China-Britain ties.

From July to October, Michael Bates, a member of UK House of Lords, and his wife walked 1701 kilometers – from Beijing to the eastern city of Hangzhou in 71 days.

Bates, also minister of state at the Home Office in UK, says he saw many interesting people and things in the trip.

Beautiful village sceneries and kind local people have made a deep impression on him.
